Dispelling the myths and stereotypes of living with dementia, join Wendy Mitchell as she offers a wise and thoroughly practical guide to life after a lifechanging diagnosis.

In the UK, dementia now affects 1 in 14 people over the age of 65, and 1 in 6 people over 80. But what can a diseased brain teach us about being human? How can we live our own lives better? And most importantly, how can we help those with dementia get the best from theirs?

In conversation for this virtual event, Wendy will share what it was like to be diagnosed with young-onset dementia at the age of fifty-eight. Shocked by the lack of awareness about the disease, both in the community and in hospitals, she vowed to spend her time raising awareness about dementia and encouraging others to see that there is life after a diagnosis.

Dispelling the myths and stereotypes of living with dementia, this event combines anecdote, the latest research, and Wendy’s own brilliant wit and wisdom for an evening that asks: can people with dementia care for others? How does the language you use affect those living with dementia? And why is planning for tomorrow just as important as living for today?
